Ecoversity Universidad Revolucion

The Universidad Revolución (UR) is a higher education project promoted by a group of organisations and institutions1 to confront the serious crisis faced by young high school graduates in the region comprising the municipalities of Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacan, La Paz and Ixtapaluca, in the east of the State of Mexico. Among its background are innumerable self-managed experiences of creation and consolidation of schools within the social project of the Emiliano Zapata Popular Revolutionary Union (UPREZ), an organisation that since 1987 has forged communities, enterprises and various urban and rural programmes in the State of Mexico. The initial stage of the UR includes a "seed" degree, the Bachelor's Degree in Sustainable Local Development, which has been taught since August 2010.
