Ecoversity Gaia University

From Ecoversities Source

Gaia U offers an action based learning model that integrates theory and design (learning by thinking and learning by doing) into a cohesive, real-world educational experience. Core courses are delivered online through a collaborative eLearning environment where students exchange ideas, share resources, and showcase project work.

A defining feature of Gaia U is its emphasis on self-designed, place-based (or nomadic) projects. Students spend a significant portion of their degree or diploma engaged in meaningful work rooted in their local communities or ecosystems. These projects are carefully documented and supported through mentoring, peer learning, and reflective evaluation with professional advisors.

Operating through a global network, Gaia U supports students in creating, documenting, and disseminating impactful regenerative work that responds to real-world challenges. Gaia U exists to address critical gaps left by mainstream education, particularly in responding to planetary crises, social fragmentation, and the need for resilient, regenerative livelihoods.

Through action learning, systems thinking, and trauma-informed, whole-systems design, Gaia U advances innovative pedagogy, leadership development, and the strategic practice of regenerative projects—supporting learners to align meaningful work with viable, values-based livelihoods.
